before my flight home, we stopped at the @gettymuseum and viewed Édouard Manet’s works. He died at 51 and before that was ill for a long time. Having to rest and stay inside, away from café culture and social events he loved so much, had its toll on him. But he learned to paint the friends that visited him, the flowers they brought him, and the gardens he looked out on. As God is making it clear that I need to be more aware of my physical limitations and to make time to rest and take care of myself, I’m hoping to create as much beauty from my circumstances as Manet did 💐🎨
it’s @devonthegates’ birthday today and that means I get a free pass to brag about him, right?
this guy. I am constantly surprised by his love for God, people, and me. He’s crazy smart, weirdly funny, and one of the wisest and most compassionate people I’ve met. He’s a musical genius but never forgets the meaning of worship. He’s loyal, he can COOK, and so much more but I’ll stop myself now. trying not to get too crazy, but free pass, remember?
i love you Dev, happy birthday 💛
